Position Description

OnSite Energy is looking for an enthusiastic, positive, self-motivated individual to join our company as our Project Manager. This position is responsible for the execution of solar projects through effective budget and scope management, schedule coordination, resource planning, and information administration. They are also responsible for managing individual projects, and partaking in the creation and evolution of departmental processes. This position averages 40hr/wk and requires very little travel to jobsites. The Project Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations and is an in-office role based in our headquarters in Bozeman, Montana.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the execution of Commercial and Residential Solar projects
  • Promote project success, adhere to best practices, and manage customer expectations
  • Propose, refine, and implement department processes and SOPs to improve efficiency
  • Interface with the company sales team, design team, crew members, and administrative staff to develop project-specific strategic plans
  • Identify the main project goals, priorities, risks, and deadlines as the guard rails for the operations team to operate within, establishing a clear understanding of individual responsibilities with each teammate
  • Manage multiple project schedules simultaneously, actively coordinating logistics and conducting site visits with clients, subcontractors, and installation crew members to identify clear scope of work
  • Apply for and obtain permits from jurisdictional authorities and interconnection approvals from utilities, and complete the net meter request process on behalf of our clients 
  • Oversee the materials procurement process for individual projects
  • Includes working with vendors and sales team members to accurately forecast component pricing and availability, assist with bills of materials/quotes/purchase orders
  • Populate and regularly update client accounts within the company’s sales and project management customer relationship management (CRM) tools (Hubspot)
  • Generate, allocate, and organize project documents digitally and physically
    • These include but are not limited to financial budgets, purchasing documents, design drawings, permit and utility applications, as-built drawings, client submittals, etc.
  • Track installation crew progress in the field and provide logistical support where needed
  • Assign and schedule project close-out tasks (commissioning, testing, monitoring, client tutorials, and billing) with members of the installation team, sales team, and admin
  • Facilitate project debrief meetings to assess team performance and financial profitability 
  • Execute additional project logistics including but not limited to:
    • Schedule and perform jobsite Design Confirmation Meetings to confirm and adjust the initial design as necessary, and to establish clear client expectations for the installation
    • Facilitate the completion of the electrical inspection and net-meter installation milestones with jurisdictional authorities and utility representatives

Previous Experience and Required Skills

We are seeking candidates with 2-5 years of professional experience in a Project Management role, preferably as a PM to a general subcontractor or subcontractor. Previous experience in a related Solar field is preferable, but not required - we are happy to train the right candidate that has previous experience working for a GC or Sub in another trade. Candidates must possess effective communication and negotiation skills, have a strong understanding of project and resource scheduling, and the ability to prioritize assorted tasks and duties independently. They must also be adept at using software to manage project information and statuses. The Project Manager position is full-time, salaried position averaging 40hrs per week.
